Instructions
This pattern is worked in rows to create the delicate lace design.
Foundation Chain: Ch 110. This will form the top neckband and initial shaping.
Row 1 (Neckband): Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 2 ch. *Ch 3, sk 3 ch, sc in next 4 ch*. Rep from * to * until 3 ch remain. Sc in last 3 ch. Ch 1, turn. (This creates small arch spaces for the neckband)
Row 2 (Establishing Lace): Sc in 1st sc. (Ch 3, sc in next ch-3 sp) 5 times. Ch 3, sk next ch-3 sp, sc in next ch-3 sp.
Center V-Section Start: (Ch 5, sc in next ch-3 sp) 3 times. Ch 5, dc in next sc (this is the center point of your V). Ch 5, sc in next ch-3 sp. (Ch 5, sc in next ch-3 sp) 2 times.
Ch 3, sk next ch-3 sp, sc in next ch-3 sp. (Ch 3, sc in next ch-3 sp) 5 times. Sc in last sc. Ch 1, turn.
Row 3: Sc in 1st sc. (Ch 3, sc in next ch-3 sp) 5 times. Ch 3, sk next ch-3 sp, sc in next ch-3 sp.
Center V-Section: (Ch 5, sc in next ch-5 sp) 3 times. Ch 5, (dc, ch 2, dc) in next dc (center V stitch). Ch 5, sc in next ch-5 sp. (Ch 5, sc in next ch-5 sp) 2 times.
Ch 3, sk next ch-3 sp, sc in next ch-3 sp. (Ch 3, sc in next ch-3 sp) 5 times. Sc in last sc. Ch 1, turn.
Row 4: Sc in 1st sc. (Ch 3, sc in next ch-3 sp) 4 times. Ch 3, sk next ch-3 sp, sc in next ch-3 sp.
Center V-Section: (Ch 5, sc in next ch-5 sp) 4 times. Ch 5, (dc, ch 2, dc) in ch-2 sp of center V. Ch 5, sc in next ch-5 sp. (Ch 5, sc in next ch-5 sp) 3 times.
Ch 3, sk next ch-3 sp, sc in next ch-3 sp. (Ch 3, sc in next ch-3 sp) 4 times. Sc in last sc. Ch 1, turn.
Continue Shaping: Rep Row 4, decreasing the number of (Ch 3, sc) repeats on the side sections by one each row, and increasing the number of (Ch 5, sc) repeats in the V-section by one on each side of the center (dc, ch 2, dc) until you have reached your desired depth for the necklace. The lace pattern will naturally widen. End with a row of mostly Ch 5 spaces in the V section.
Final Edging (Optional for bottom edge of V): Along the bottom edge of the V, you can add a decorative edging. Work (Sc, picot, sc) in each Ch 5 sp, or (Sc, ch 3, dc, ch 3, sc) to create small shell points. Fasten off and weave in ends.
Finishing:
Attach Clasp: Use jewelry pliers to attach the lobster clasp to one end of the necklace. On the other end, attach a small jump ring or a short chain extender (ch 5, sl st into 1st ch to form a loop) for the clasp to hook into.
Attach Bead Drops: Carefully examine the lace pattern. Identify suitable ‘points’ or small loops in the crochet fabric, particularly along the bottom edge of the V and the wider side scallops. Use jewelry pliers to open a jump ring, thread on a clear faceted drop bead, and then attach the jump ring to a chosen point on the necklace. Close the jump ring securely. Rep for all 18-22 beads, distributing them evenly to create the dazzling cascading effect shown in the image.
Blocking: Gently wash your necklace in cool water with a mild soap. Roll it in a towel to remove excess water. Lay it flat on a blocking mat, carefully shaping it to its desired form. Pin the edges to hold the shape, especially the V-drop. Allow it to air dry completely.
Your beautiful, handcrafted lace necklace is now ready to wear!
