Instructions
Gauge: Not critical for this project, but aim for tight, even stitches to maintain the lace effect.
Main Flower Motif (FM) (Make 10-12, or as needed for desired necklace length)
Ch 6, join with sl st to first ch to form a ring.
Round 1: Ch 1, 12 sc into the ring. Join with sl st to first sc.
Round 2 (Petals): (Ch 4, dc in the same st, ch 4, sl st into the next sc) rep 6 times around. You should have 6 petals.
Fasten off for the first motif. For subsequent motifs, join to the previous motif during the last petal. When making the last petal of a new FM, instead of chaining 4 twice, ch 2, sl st to the corresponding ch-4 sp of a petal on the previous FM, ch 2, then dc in the same st on the current FM, ch 4, sl st to next sc on current FM. This creates a secure connection.
Small Bobble (SB)
When instructed to make an SB, work the following: (Yo, insert hook into st/sp, yo, pull up loop, yo, pull through 2 loops) 3 times into the same st/sp. (4 loops on hook). Yo, pull through all 4 loops on hook. Ch 1 to secure.
Necklace Band Assembly
Follow instructions for FM, joining each subsequent FM to the previous one as described. Continue until you have a band of FMs long enough to comfortably fit around your neck (approximately 10-12 FMs for a choker style).
Fasten off after the last FM.
Dangling Strands Assembly
Identify the bottom petals of the FMs along the necklace band where you want the strands to hang. The image shows strands hanging from every 1-2 FMs.
For each dangling point, attach yarn and create strands of varying lengths:
Short Strand: Ch 10, make SB in the 10th ch from hook. Sl st back along the chain to the starting point. Sl st to secure.
Medium Strand: Ch 15, make SB in the 15th ch from hook. Sl st back along the chain to the starting point. Sl st to secure.
Long Strand: Ch 20, make SB in the 20th ch from hook. Sl st back along the chain to the starting point. Sl st to secure.
Vary the lengths and number of strands attached to each FM to mimic the fullness and design seen in the image. Some FMs might have 2 short, 1 medium, while others might have 1 long, 1 short.
Finishing
Weave in all loose ends securely with a yarn needle.
Attach a small clasp to each end of the necklace band.
