Instructions
This pattern creates a delicate lace choker designed to sit elegantly around the neck, with cascading motifs. The piece is made of individual floral and leaf motifs joined together with chain spaces and then attached to a foundation choker band.
Choker Band:
Chain 80 (or desired length to fit snugly around your neck) + 1.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. (79 sc, or desired length). Ch 1, turn.
Row 2: Sl st in each sc across. FO. Weave in ends.
Attach a small decorative button to one end and create a ch 3 loop on the other end for closure.
Small Flower Motif (Make 8-10):
1. Make a MR. Ch 1, work 10 sc into ring. Join with sl st to first sc.
2. *Sl st in next sc, Ch 3, 2 dc in same sc, Ch 3, sl st in next sc*. Repeat 5 times in total to create 5 petals. Sl st to first sl st. FO, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Pointed Leaf Motif (Make 15-20):
1. Ch 8.
2. Sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, hdc in next ch, dc in next 2 ch, hdc in next ch, sc in last ch.
3. Ch 1, turn, work on other side of foundation chain: Sc in first st (which is last sc of previous side), hdc in next st, dc in next 2 sts, hdc in next st, sc in next st, sl st to first sl st. FO, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Assembly:
Arrange your motifs on a flat surface to plan the layout, referencing the image. The choker features a main band with larger floral motifs and groups of leaves cascading downwards, connected by short chains.
First Layer: Using your sewing needle and thread, or by crocheting directly, attach 4-5 Flower Motifs and 6-8 Leaf Motifs along the bottom edge of the Choker Band, spacing them evenly. You can join them directly or with short chains (e.g., ch 3-5 between motifs) if preferred.
Second Layer & Cascading Elements: From the bottom edge of the motifs in the first layer, create short chains (ch 5-10, varying lengths) to attach additional Flower and Leaf Motifs. Create clusters of 2-3 Pointed Leaf Motifs by joining them together at their base with a sl st, then attach these clusters with chains. Vary the chain lengths to create the desired cascading effect, ensuring some motifs hang lower than others.
Final Touches: Using your sewing needle and matching thread, sew one small faux pearl securely to the center of each Flower Motif. Attach a pearl to the very tip of about 7-10 of the lowest hanging Pointed Leaf Motifs.
