Instructions
Gauge: Not critical for this project, but aim for tight stitches to ensure durability.
Note: The length of your watch band pieces will depend on your wrist size and the watch face dimensions. Measure your existing watch strap or your wrist to determine the appropriate length for each side.
Watch Band Strips (Make 2 identical pieces in Yarn A):
Start: Ch 7 (adjust as needed for desired width, aiming for about 1.5-2cm).
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. (6 sc). Ch 1, turn.
Row 2-X: Sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn.
Repeat Row 2 until each strip reaches your desired length (measure from watch pin to buckle or hole section). For an average wrist, one piece might be 3-4 inches and the other 4-5 inches.
Finishing Ends (for Watch Pins): At one end of each strip, fold back approximately 1cm (0.4 inches) and securely sew the folded edge down to create a loop/tunnel. This loop will be used to thread the watch pin through.
Buckle End (one strip): At the other end of one strip, sew on your watch buckle to the loop you created.
Holes End (other strip): For the other strip, you will create eyelets for the buckle pin. Work a final row: Ch 1, sc in first 2 sts, ch 2, sk 2 sts, sc in last 2 sts. This creates a hole. Repeat this row with ch-2 spaces positioned at intervals for desired hole placement along the strap. Alternatively, you can use a strong tapestry needle to carefully poke and reinforce holes with thread after completing the strip.
FO, weave in ends.
Small Flowers (Make 5-7, alternating Yarn B and C):
Start: Using Yarn B or C, make a MR.
Round 1 (Petals): Ch 2, (1 dc, ch 2, sl st) into MR. Repeat 2 more times for a total of 3 petals.
Pull the MR tight to close the center.
FO, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Large Flowers (Make 3-4, alternating Yarn B and C):
Start: Using Yarn B or C, make a MR.
Round 1 (Petals): Ch 3, (2 dc, ch 3, sl st) into MR. Repeat 2 more times for a total of 3 petals.
Pull the MR tight to close the center.
FO, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Leaves (Make 8-10 in Yarn D):
Start: Ch 5.
Row 1: Sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, hdc in next ch, sl st in last ch.
FO, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Assembly:
Thread the watch pins through the loops you created at the ends of your watch band strips and attach the strips to your watch face.
Arrange the small and large flowers on the watch band strips. For a layered look, sew a smaller flower on top of a larger one using the sewing tails. Vary the colors and sizes as seen in the image.
Once satisfied with the placement, securely sew the flowers onto the watch band using the tails.
Sew the small leaves strategically around the flower clusters to add a touch of green.
