Crochet Pattern: Adorable Crochet Bee and Flower Hair Clip Free Pattern
Materials
- Fingering weight cotton yarn in Yellow, Orange, Light Green, Black, and Pale Beige
- 1.5 mm or 2.0 mm crochet hook
- Metal alligator hair clip (approx. 5 cm / 2 inches)
- Hot glue gun or strong fabric glue
- Fiberfill stuffing (a tiny pinch for the bee)
- Tapestry needle and scissors

Instructions
Step 1: The Layered Flower Base
Using Yellow yarn:
Round 1: In a Magic Ring, ch 1, work 6 sc. Sl st to join. (6 sts)
Round 2: Ch 1, [inc] in each st around. Sl st to join. (12 sts)
Switch to Orange yarn:
Round 3: Ch 1, [sc in next st, inc in next st] repeat around. Sl st to join. (18 sts)
Round 4 (Petals): [In the FLO of the next st: (sc, hdc, dc, hdc, sc), skip 1 st, sl st in the next st] repeat around to make 6 small petals. Fasten off.
Round 5 (Back Layer): Attach Yellow yarn to the remaining back loops of Round 3. [In next loop: (sc, hdc, 2 dc, hdc, sc), skip 1 loop, sl st in next loop] repeat around to create a larger outer layer of petals. Fasten off and weave in ends.
Step 2: The Leaves (Make 2)
Using Light Green yarn, ch 8:
Row 1: Starting in the 2nd ch from the hook, work: sl st, sc, hdc, dc, hdc, sc. In the last ch st, work: (sc, ch 2, sc) to turn. Working down the opposite side of the chain: sc, hdc, dc, hdc, sc, sl st. Fasten off, leaving a tail for assembly.
Step 3: The Tiny Bumblebee
Using Yellow yarn:
Round 1: In a Magic Ring, work 6 sc. (6 sts)
Round 2: [sc, inc] x3. (9 sts)
Round 3: [2 sc, inc] x3. (12 sts)
Switch to Black yarn:
Round 4: Sc in each st around. (12 sts)
Switch to Yellow yarn:
Round 5: Sc in each st around. (12 sts)
Switch to Black yarn:
Round 6: [2 sc, dec] x3. (9 sts)
Stuff the bee lightly with a small pinch of fiberfill.
Switch to Yellow yarn:
Round 7: [sc, dec] x3. (6 sts)
Switch to Black yarn:
Round 8: [dec] x3. (3 sts)
Fasten off, weaving the end through the remaining stitches to close. Use black thread to embroider the antennae, small legs, and tiny eye dots on the face.
Step 4: The Wings (Make 2)
Using Pale Beige yarn:
In a Magic Ring, ch 2, work 4 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc, then sl st to the ring. Pull the magic ring tight to form a small, translucent-looking wing. Fasten off, leaving a tail to sew onto the back of the bee.
Step 5: Assembly
- Sew the wings securely onto the middle back of the tiny bumblebee.
- Stitch or glue the green leaves behind the outer petals of the yellow/orange flower.
- Place the tiny bee diagonally across the center of the flower and stitch or hot glue it securely in place.
- Apply a generous line of hot glue along the flat top of the metal hair clip, and press the assembled flower and bee motif firmly onto it. Let dry completely before use.
