Crochet Pattern: Adorable Crochet Turtle Hair Clip Free Pattern
Materials
- Sport weight cotton yarn in Olive Green, Cream, and a small amount of Dark Brown
- 2.25 mm crochet hook
- Two small black beads (approx. 3mm) or safety eyes
- Polyester fiberfill stuffing
- Metal alligator hair clip (approx. 4.5 cm)

Shell (Top)
Using Olive Green yarn:
Round 1: 6 sc in MR (6)
Round 2: 6 inc (12)
Round 3: (1 sc, inc) x 6 (18)
Round 4: (2 sc, inc) x 6 (24)
Round 5: (3 sc, inc) x 6 (30)
Round 6: Sc around (30)
Round 7: Sl st in FLO of each stitch around. Fasten off and weave in the end. Use Dark Brown yarn and a tapestry needle to embroider pentagon-style lines on top of the green shell to mimic a turtle shell texture.
Shell (Bottom)
Using Cream or Olive Green yarn:
Round 1: 6 sc in MR (6)
Round 2: 6 inc (12)
Round 3: (1 sc, inc) x 6 (18)
Round 4: (2 sc, inc) x 6 (24)
Round 5: (3 sc, inc) x 6 (30)
Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Head
Using Cream yarn:
Round 1: 6 sc in MR (6)
Round 2: 6 inc (12)
Round 3: (1 sc, inc) x 6 (18)
Rounds 4-6: Sc around (18)
Round 7: (1 sc, dec) x 6 (12)
Sew the small black beads/eyes between Rounds 4 and 5, leaving about 5 stitches between them. Stuff the head firmly with fiberfill.
Round 8: 6 dec (6)
Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing.
Flippers (Make 4)
Using Cream yarn:
In a MR, ch 2, work 4 dc, ch 2, sl st into the ring. Pull the magic ring tight. Fasten off, leaving a tail for assembly.
Tail Loop
Using Olive Green yarn:
Ch 8, join with a sl st to the first chain to form a small ring. Fasten off, leaving a tail to attach.
Assembly and Mounting
1. Sew the bottom shell to the back/inner loops of the top shell, stuffing lightly with fiberfill before closing the gap completely.
2. Sew the head to the front of the shell body.
3. Sew the four flippers evenly onto the bottom shell so they protrude outward, pointing slightly backward for the back flippers and forward for the front ones.
4. Sew the green tail loop to the back of the shell.
5. Apply hot glue or strong fabric glue to the top surface of the metal alligator clip, and press the assembled turtle firmly onto the clip. Allow it to dry completely before use.
