Materials
- Fingering or sport weight yarn in Cream, Rust/Orange, Red, and Yellow
- 2.0 mm crochet hook

Instructions
Head and Body:
Using Cream yarn.
Round 1: Start 6 sc in a MR (6)
Round 2: [inc] x 6 (12)
Round 3: [sc 1, inc] x 6 (18)
Round 4-8: sc in each st around (18)
Attach safety eyes between Rounds 5 and 6, leaving about 3 stitches between them.
Round 9: [sc 2, inc] x 6 (24)
Switch to Rust/Orange yarn.
Round 10-14: sc in each st around (24)
Round 15: [sc 2, dec] x 6 (18)
Stuff the body firmly with fiberfill.

Fasten off and weave in ends.
Comb (Red):
Join Red yarn to the top of the head. [ch 3, sl st in next st] x 3 to create a ruffled crest. Fasten off.

Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Sew the wings to the sides of the cream section of the body, angled slightly forward to hold the knitting needles.
Miniature Knitting Swatch Detail:
Cast on 6 stitches onto two toothpicks using colorful scrap yarn. Knit 4 rows in garter or stockinette stitch. Secure the yarn ends. Position the toothpicks under the chicken’s wings and secure them with a dab of craft glue or a few stitches of sewing thread to make the chicken look like she is knitting!
