Notes: This pouch is constructed from one large granny square, folded and seamed. The drawstring is then woven through the top edge.
The Granny Square
Using Color A (Teal):
Rnd 1: Ch 4, sl st to first ch to form a ring. Ch 3 (counts as 1st dc), 2 dc into ring, [ch 2, 3 dc into ring] 3 times, ch 2, sl st to top of beg ch-3. Fasten off. (4 ‘3-dc’ clusters, 4 ch-2 sps)
Using Color B (Yellow):
Rnd 2: Join Color B with a sl st in any ch-2 sp. Ch 3 (counts as 1st dc), (2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in same ch-2 sp (first corner made). [Ch 1, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next ch-2 sp] 3 times. Ch 1, sl st to top of beg ch-3. Fasten off. (8 ‘3-dc’ clusters, 4 ch-2 sps, 4 ch-1 sps)
Using Color C (Coral):
Rnd 3: Join Color C with a sl st in any ch-2 corner sp. Ch 3, (2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in same ch-2 sp. [Ch 1, 3 dc in next ch-1 sp. Ch 1, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next ch-2 corner sp] 3 times. Ch 1, 3 dc in next ch-1 sp. Ch 1, sl st to top of beg ch-3. Fasten off. (12 ‘3-dc’ clusters, 4 ch-2 sps, 8 ch-1 sps)
Using Color D (Natural/Beige):
Rnd 4: Join Color D with a sl st in any ch-2 corner sp. Ch 3, (2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in same ch-2 sp. [Ch 1, 3 dc in next ch-1 sp. Ch 1, 3 dc in next ch-1 sp. Ch 1, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next ch-2 corner sp] 3 times. Ch 1, 3 dc in next ch-1 sp. Ch 1, 3 dc in next ch-1 sp. Ch 1, sl st to top of beg ch-3. Do not fasten off. (16 ‘3-dc’ clusters, 4 ch-2 sps, 12 ch-1 sps)
Rnd 5: Ch 1, sc in same st. Sc in each of next 2 dc. *In ch-2 corner sp: (sc, ch 2, sc). Sc in each of next 3 dc. Sc in each ch-1 sp and in each dc across to next corner*. Repeat from * to * 3 times. In last ch-2 corner sp: (sc, ch 2, sc). Sc in each of next 3 dc. Sc in each ch-1 sp and in each dc across to the start. Sl st to first sc. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for seaming.
Assembly
Fold the granny square in half, with the wrong sides together (the side with the most prominent texture should be facing out).
Using the long tail from Rnd 5 and your yarn needle (or by sc stitches), seam the two side edges together. Weave in any remaining ends.
Drawstring
Using Color D (Natural/Beige), chain approximately 100-120 stitches (or desired length).
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Weave the drawstring through the chain-2 spaces of the top edge (Rnd 5) of the pouch, starting and ending at the front center.
Tie the ends of the drawstring together to secure, or add beads if desired.
