Instructions
Assembly Note: To ensure the camper stands upright and holds its shape, you must cut plastic canvas sheets to match the dimensions of each crocheted panel (sides, front, back, roof, and floor). Sandwich the plastic canvas between double layers of crochet or sew them directly inside the caravan panels.
Caravan Side Panels (Make 2):
Using Teal yarn and a 6.0 mm hook, ch 51. Row 1-20: Sc in each st across, ch 1, turn. (50 sts). Switch to Cream yarn. Row 21-40: Sc in each st across, ch 1, turn. Cut out a doorway on one side panel (rows 5 to 35, 15 stitches wide) and a window opening on the other (rows 22 to 32, 12 stitches wide) by chaining and skipping stitches, then working back over them on subsequent rows. Finish with a round of sc around the entire outer border of each panel using Cream yarn.
Front, Back, and Roof Panels:
These are worked in one continuous long strip or in three separate pieces joined together. To make the continuous strip: ch 31. Work in sc rows using Teal yarn for the lower front/back sections, and Cream yarn for the upper sections and roof. Adjust colors to match the heights of the side panels. Insert plastic canvas sheets cut to size inside each section before sewing the panels together.
Wheels (Make 4):
Using Grey yarn and a 5.0 mm hook, start with a magic ring. Round 1: 6 sc in ring (6). Round 2: Inc in each st around (12). Switch to Black yarn. Round 3: *sc, inc* repeat around (18). Round 4: *2 sc, inc* repeat around (24). Round 5: Sc in BLO around (24). Round 6: Sc around (24). Sl st to join. Stuff lightly and sew to the bottom edge of the caravan frame.
Door & Steps:
Using Cream yarn, crochet a flat rectangle slightly larger than the doorway opening (17 sts wide by 31 rows tall). Frame the edges in Navy Blue yarn. Sew one side of the door to the doorway to create a functional hinge. For the steps, crochet a small block using Cream yarn, reinforce with plastic canvas, and sew directly below the door opening.
Finishing Touches:
Embroider small flowers on the lower teal panels using light-colored scrap yarn. Frame the window in Navy Blue yarn and attach tiny fabric curtains on the inside. Crochet an orange-and-white striped rectangular cushion using bulky yarn to place inside the camper for your cat’s absolute comfort.
