Instructions
Base & Entry Ring: Using Golden Brown yarn and the 8.0 mm hook, chain 60, join with a slip stitch to form a large ring. Round 1-5: sc in each stitch around (60). This forms the reinforced entry rim of the cave. Break yarn.
Main Dome Construction: We will build the ribbed, curved dome of the croissant behind the entry ring.
Row 1: Join yarn at the bottom-center of the ring. Crochet back and forth across 45 of the stitches, leaving 15 stitches unworked for the front opening. Work in hdc in the BLO to create horizontal ridges. Increase 1 stitch at each end of every row to expand the cave width.
Row 2-25: Continue in hdc BLO, alternating rows of Golden Brown and Ochre to create the baked pastry shading. To create the dramatic croissant folds, work 3 rows of dc/fpdc ribs every 6 rows. As you reach Row 15, begin decreasing 1 stitch at each end to taper the back of the cave, forming a curved dome shape. Fasten off and sew the rear seam shut to close the dome.
