Rows 20-35: ch 1, sc in each st across, turn. (60 sts)
Step 3: Closing the Hood & Shaping the Head
To close the opening and build the head, you will chain across the gap and resume working in rounds.
Round 36: ch 1, sc in next 60 sts, chain 28, join to the first sc of the row with a slip stitch. (88 sts total including the chain)

Round 56: [dec] around. (8 sts) Fasten off, weave tail through last 8 stitches, pull tight to close the top of the head.
Step 4: Yellow Face Panel & Border
Using Yellow yarn, crochet a flat oval panel that matches the size of the opening. Sew it onto the front face around the entry opening. To create the colorful border, attach Red yarn directly to the edge of the opening and work 1 round of sc around the entire rim. Fasten off and repeat with Sky Blue yarn to create the outer trim.
Step 5: The Colorful Toucan Beak (Using 5.0 mm hook)
Work in rounds, stuffing firmly with fiberfill as you progress.
Start with Black yarn:
Round 1: 6 sc in MR. (6 sts)
Round 2: [sc 1, inc] repeat around. (9 sts)
Round 3: [sc 2, inc] repeat around. (12 sts)
Round 4: [sc 3, inc] repeat around. (15 sts)
Round 5: [sc 4, inc] repeat around. (18 sts). Join Sky Blue yarn.

Rounds 10-13: sc in each st around. (18 sts). Join Orange yarn.
Rounds 14-20: [sc 5, inc] repeat around. (21 sts). Join Yellow yarn.
Rounds 21-28: [sc 6, inc] repeat around. (24 sts). Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Sew the base of the beak securely to the forehead area just above the main cat opening.
Step 6: Eyes (Make 2)
Using Black yarn: 6 sc in MR. Join White yarn: [inc] in each st around (12 sts). Join Sky Blue yarn: [sc 1, inc] repeat around (18 sts). Join Orange yarn: [sc 2, inc] repeat around (24 sts). Join Red yarn: [sc 3, inc] repeat around (30 sts). Fasten off and sew to the sides of the head near the beak.
Step 7: Wings & Feet
Wing Details: Crochet flat semi-circles in Black and trim with Yellow scallops. Sew to the sides of the body.
Feet: Using Orange yarn, make small textured bumps (bobble stitches) and sew them to the bottom front edge of the cat bed. Weave in all loose ends to complete your gorgeous Toucan Cat Bed!
