Instructions
This necklace is constructed from several crocheted motifs joined together. We will create three main types of motifs: Small Square Floral Motifs for the necklace band, Large Central Floral Motif for the focal point, and Intermediate Heart-like Motifs for connection, plus dangle elements.
Motif A: Small Square Floral (Make 14)
These motifs form the main chain of the necklace. Each has a pink center and a cream border.
Pink Center: Ch 4, join with sl st to form a ring. Ch 1, 8 sc in ring. Join with sl st to first sc. FO Pink yarn.
Cream Border: Join Cream yarn in any sc.
R1: Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 2 dc in same sc. Ch 2. *(3 dc in next sc, ch 2) rep from * 7 times. Join with sl st to top of ch 3.
R2: Sl st into ch 2 sp. Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), (2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in same ch 2 sp (this is your first corner). *Sk next 3 dc, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next ch 2 sp (corner)*. Rep from * 3 more times. Join with sl st to top of ch 3. FO Cream.
Motif B: Large Central Floral Medallion (Make 1)
This is the main focal point of the necklace.
Pink Flower Center: Ch 5, join with sl st to form ring. Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 15 dc in ring. Join with sl st to top of ch 3. FO Pink yarn.
Cream Lace Surround: Join Cream yarn in any dc.
R1: Ch 1, sc in same st. *Ch 3, sk 1 dc, sc in next dc*. Rep from * around (8 ch-3 loops). Join with sl st to first sc.
R2: Sl st into first ch-3 loop. Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), (2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in same ch-3 loop. *Ch 1, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next ch-3 loop*. Rep from * 7 more times. Join with sl st to top of ch 3.
R3: Continue building outwards with ch and dc/tr stitches, creating a delicate lace pattern as seen in the image. Form arches and loops for attaching Motif C and the dangle later. Ensure the central bottom point has a small loop for dangle attachment. This round involves creating openwork with various chain lengths and dc/tr clusters.
Pearl Embellishment: Crochet a small pearl into one of the top ch-1 spaces on each side of Motif B, as shown in the image. This can be done by sliding the pearl onto the thread before making a sl st or sc.
Motif C: Intermediate Heart-like Motifs (Make 2)
These connect Motif A to Motif B.
Pink Flower Center: Ch 4, join with sl st to form ring. (Ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, sl st) into ring. Rep 4 more times for a total of 5 petals. Sl st to join. FO Pink yarn.
Cream Lace Surround: Join Cream yarn into any ch-2 sp of a petal.
R1: Ch 1, sc in same sp. (Ch 3, sc in next ch-2 sp) rep 4 times. Ch 3. Join with sl st to first sc.
R2: Sl st into first ch-3 sp. Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 4 dc in same sp. *Ch 1, 5 dc in next ch-3 sp*. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to top of ch 3. This starts forming a heart/clover shape.
R3: Continue with ch and dc/tr stitches to shape the motif as a heart/clover, creating loops for connection to Motif A and Motif B. Add a small pearl at the bottom point of each Motif C by crocheting it in.
Dangle Motifs (Make 1 set)
Top Dangle Piece: Crochet one Motif A as described above.
Middle Leaf Motifs (2 total): Ch 8. Sl st into 4th ch from hook to form a small ring. Ch 1, sc 5-7 times into ring, creating a curved leaf shape. Turn, ch 1, sc back along the leaf, adding more stitches to round it. FO Cream. Repeat for the second leaf.
Bottom Pearls: Prepare 2-3 small pearls on a length of Cream thread.
Assembly
Attach Motif C to Motif B: Using sl sts or sc, carefully join one Motif C to each side of Motif B, connecting the cream lace borders. Reference the image for placement.
Attach Motif A to Motif C: Join the first Motif A on each side of the necklace band to the outer edge of Motif C using sl sts or sc.
Construct Necklace Band: Join the remaining 5-6 Motif A pieces on each side by sl st or sc along one edge, forming a continuous band. Ensure they are joined symmetrically.
Attach Dangle: Join the top Motif A of the dangle to the bottom point of Motif B. Carefully connect the two Middle Leaf Motifs below the Motif A dangle piece using sl sts or by sewing.
Add Bottom Pearls to Dangle: Securely attach the prepared bottom pearls to the very end of the dangle using a sewing needle and matching thread.
Weave in Ends: Using your tapestry needle, carefully weave in all loose ends.
Attach Clasp: Sew or attach your chosen jewelry clasp to the ends of the necklace band.
Final Pearl Placement: Review the image and carefully sew any remaining pearls onto the motifs as seen, particularly on the small square motifs and around the central medallion.
